Dakota has been adopted!
Dakota might look like a little fluffball, but underneath that poofy exterior lies the heart of a 500–pound guard dog. He’s always at the front of the pack when someone visits his foster mom’s house, checking for any signs of danger.
But when all is calm, there’s only one thing in danger from this adorable dog.. .. his foster mom’s pillows! He’s a major pillow stealer. He jumps into bed every chance he gets and makes himself right at home. Can you say “spoiled”?
His former owners bought his mother (purebred Dachshund) and father (purebred Papillon) several years ago, never intending to breed them, but without being spayed/neutered, dogs will be dogs, and soon they had a litter anyway, resulting in White Cloud, Bruiser and several others. Although they tried to give them each attention, when Litter #2 came along and the house became more and more filled, they soon realized they were in over their heads and decided to give up several of the dogs so they could find new loving homes.
Now Dakota is in foster care and soaking up all the attention. He loves to be with other dogs as well as cats, but he would like a home without children. As far as he’s concerned, the cutest thing in the house should be him. He wants to be your baby.
At just over a year old, Dakota is full grown and only about 14 pounds.
